For every ticket purchase from yesterday's WNBA game between The Seattle Storm and the Chicago Sky, The Storm donated $5 to Planned Parenthood. Given targeted cuts in federal funding for the nonprofit organization that provides reproductive health care to women across the country, Seattle Storm owners, Ginny Gilder, Lisa Brummel, and Dawn Trudeau decided to take action. "The Seattle Storm owners made a decision to publicly support Planned Parenthood, making them the first professional sports team to make their voice heard and their stance known," Christine Charbonneau, CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands, said in a statement released to USA Today. "We are proud to work alongside the Storm and their efforts in leveling the playing field for women and girls. Right now, we are seeing a relentless effort to roll back progress for women. Being in this fight alongside our supporters and the Storm is an honor."

In addition to bringing the organization on board to donate proceeds from ticket sells, the trio has planned an auction to raise even more money for the organization. The Storm is emerging as one of the "wokest" franchises in the WNBA. Team members have also been very outspoken on matters of social justice and league politics on social media. Last season, players made headlines for wearing t-shirts to support the Black Lives Matter movement during warm-ups.

Their latest action in support of Planned Parenthood has generated lots of social media support with #StormStandsWithPP.

Don't underestimate the impact.

One time for the Seattle Storm for always taking a stance.
