Living legend, and oldest Best Actor Oscar winner alive, Sidney Poitier, will honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the California African American Museum (CAAM), in a gala dinner on October 6.
The 85 year old has been selected to receive the institution’s honor alongside fellow honoree, Los Angeles-based sculptor John Outterbridge.
Outterbridge's lengthy career includes serving as the director of the Watts Towers Arts Center in L.A. from 1975 to 1992, as well as exhibitions of his work at prominent museums around the country.
In 2011 he was named a United States Artists Gracie Fellow for Visual Arts.
And Sidney Poitier is, well, Sidney Poitier; you know him!!
Previous recipients of the CAAM's Lifetime Achievement Award include boxing legend Muhammad Ali and musician Herbie Hancock.
