Snoop Dogg and his wife, Shante Broadus, give the Barbie movie two thumbs up! The rap pioneer gave his official review on his Instagram earlier this week.
“Just got back from seeing Barbie,” he said. “That sh*t funny as a muthaf**ka. Me and my wife [were] in there laughing like a muthaf**ka.”
The 51-year-old rapper isn’t the only fan of the film. Within a month of its release, the film has grossed over $1 billion globally.
The massive payout has made its director, Greta Gerwig, the highest-grossing domestic female director. The title had previously belonged to Patty Jenkins, whose 2017 film, Wonder Woman, raked in nearly $823 million.
The box-office phenomenon is said to have the highest-grossing opening of 2023 so far and also tops the list of the most lucrative films based on a toy. According to CNN, modern representation increased Barbie toy sales in the U.S. by 25% between July and August.
Earlier this month, the “Gin and Juice” rapper announced his film, The Big Payback. He posted a trailer of the film on his Instagram. The dark clip opens up with Snoop narrating the possible plot of the film. “In a world full of Gods and monsters, the only way to cut off evil is at the root,” he’s heard saying.
The rapper appears on screen, seated at a table in a dark room, eating a bowl of his new cereal, Snoop’s Hoopz.
The teaser didn’t come with a release date, but the rapper let fans know it was “comin’ soon.”
The crime-ridden story is credited to the rapper’s production company, Snoopadelic Films, and directed by Dah Dah of Death Row Pictures.
