Fair Fight 2020, a voting rights group launched by former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, will hold a voting rights summit Friday in Atlanta that is slated to bring together attorneys, election administration experts and activists.

The event is invite-only and, according to a report by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, will feature representatives from the Democratic National Committee, labor union leaders and state Sen. Nikema Williams, the chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Georgia, as well as presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg.

Fair Fight was started shortly after Abrams' 2018 loss to now Governor Brian Kemp, a race largely viewed to be affected by voter suppression efforts. In his role as secretary of state, Kemp was able to oversee all proponents of the election process, which he narrowly won.

Last year, amid speculation that Abrams would enter the Democratic presidential primary field, she declined the opportunity to focus on expanding her voting rights efforts.

“My mission is to make sure that no one has to go through in 2020 what we had to go through in 2018,” she told an audience of hundreds at the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades convention at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas in August. “My best value add in the primaries will be doing the work of fighting voter suppression. I will not be running. We have to make certain that every eligible American can cast a ballot in 2020 – and that work has to start now.”

Abrams has affected the current presidential race, however, calling on all Democratic candidates to include voting rights and ballot access as key components of their platforms.

She has also announced plans to publish a book on voting rights, which is scheduled to be released in June.
