Earlier this month, Stacey Dash took to Twitter to express her interest in running for California's Congress. Now, it appears that Dash has moved past considering to actually throwing her hat in the race, CNN reports.
The conservative "Clueless" actress officially filed paperwork with the Los Angeles County Registrar on Monday to run for Congress in California's 44th District as a Republican.
The seat Dash hopes to win is currently held by Democrat Nanette Barragán. California's 44th district includes Compton, Watts, San Pedro and North Long Beach, and its residents traditionally vote Democrat. In fact, Democrats widely outnumber Republicans in the district, 61 percent to 10 percet, accordin to the LA Times.
The FEC form submitted to the registrar includes Dash's electronic signature declaring her candidacy, and the filing includes a link to a "Dash To DC" website.
Dash has not made a public statement on the filing at the time of this posting, but she did hint at some things progressing late last week on Twitter:
Things are taking shape.— Stacey Dash (@REALStaceyDash) February 22, 2018
Soon.— Stacey Dash (@REALStaceyDash) February 24, 2018
"Things are taking shape," wrote Dash in the cryptic Tweet. This past Saturday, she simply tweeted, "Soon."
We'll keep our eyes peeled for further updates from Dash's camp.
