Former NFL receiver Terrell Owens appeared on ESPN’s First Take Thursday and questioned Stephen A. Smith’s commitment to the culture after the host recently accused Colin Kaepernick of just wanting to "make noise," reports For The Win.

After Kaepernick took control of his NFL workout session last Saturday, Smith has been vocal about his disapproval of the quarterback and has taken a pro-NFL stance.

On Monday’s episode of First Take, Smith and his co-hosts discussed the hot topic. The sports analyst's co-host Max Kellerman responded to Smith’s harsh criticism of the free agent and activist, and took a different approach to the situation.

Kellerman acknowledged his own white male privilege and checked Smith’s pro-NFL argument.

“What am I to do with my privilege as a white man and as a person on TV with an enormous platform?… Am I to support the power structure where injustice is ongoing or should I speak truth to power using that privilege and that platform?” Kellerman questioned.

Instead of attacking Kapernick, Kellerman challenged the league and the steps they took — or didn’t take — regarding the workout. He also brought up Kaep’s Kunta Kinte shirt, which Smith condemned the free agent for wearing.

“I’m going to question the world we ought to live in and bring pressure to bear that sooner than later we do live in that world where so the hell what someone shows up in a Kunta Kinte shirt,” said Kellerman.

Bring in Owens.

The hall of famer appeared on the talk show Thursday and blasted Smith for his stance while praising Kellerman.

“I’m in the streets, Max almost seems Blacker than you Stephen A., with his commentary,” Owens said.

Smith was visibly bothered by Owens’ comment, calling timeout.

“With all due respect, my brother, Imma check you right now. You done crossed the line,” Smith responded. “What’s the definition of Blackness? Is there a definitive definition of Blackness? Why are you given the impression that because I don’t march lock step with every single thing Colin Kaepernick wants? OK excuse me.”

Owens said there was no disrespect meant by his comment, calling it “tongue and cheek," to which Smith did not seem to agree. Since the episode aired, Owens has come under fire from many, including NFL analyst Damien Woody, who has also been vocal about his disagreement with Kaepernick.

Smith took to Twitter to say Owens asked to be a guest, which the NFL record-holder denies, posting text receipts between him and his manager showing that ESPN had asked him to make an appearance.

Smith also claims he's invited Kaepernick on the show to sit down and debate the matter in person.
