The University of Southern California (USC) has added two star-studded names to its freshman class list after sending acceptance letters to star actress Storm Reid and model Natalia Bryant, the daughter of Kobe and Vanessa Bryant.
Reid shared a tearful, heartfelt video of herself opening the acceptance letter on Instagram where she said, “Oh my God, I’ve been waiting on this all day…I don’t think I can open it!”
As the caption to the video, she wrote, "I’ve been on set allllllll day, and I wanted to wait to get home to open this. Was a ball of nerves all day. I got my first college acceptance two weeks ago, but I’ve been waiting on this one for a hot minute. WE GOT INTO USC BABY."
At just 17 years old, Reid has already headlined a number of blockbuster films including Ava DuVernay‘s A Wrinkle in Time and The Invisible Man as well as hit TV shows like When They See Us and Euphoria.
Thousands of people saw and commented on the video including Viola Davis, Halle Bailey, Elaine Welteroth and her A Wrinkle In Time co-star Oprah Winfrey.
"College?Already?!! Feels like just the other day I was Mrs. Whichin’ it with you and you were 13 ! O well guess that was just a wrinkle in time ????. Congratulations dear one. USC , you will bless that campus," Winfrey wrote.
Natalia was similarly moved by her acceptance to USC, and Vanessa shared a video of the reaction on her Instagram page. The teen jumped for joy as she and her mother realized she had gotten in.
"Tears of joy. I’m SO happy for you Nani! I know daddy is so PROUD OF YOU. I am so PROUD OF YOU!! Your hard work and dedication was so worth it," Vanessa wrote.
You pushed through the most excruciating pain imaginable and you succeeded. I wish Daddy and Gigi were physically here to celebrate but I know they’re here in spirit. We love you so much!" Natalia's mother added.
But this isn't Natalia's first victory of the year. As Blavity previously reported, in February, the teen announced on her Instagram page that she signed with IMG Models.
"I have always been interested in fashion since a very young age. I have a love for the industry and ever since I can remember I wanted to model. There is a lot to learn but I feel this is a great opportunity for me to learn and express myself creatively," Natalia wrote in February.
Both Reid and Bryant have a bright future ahead!
