Two black directors have high-profile projects in the works.

Rick Famuyiwa, the director of cult classic The Wood, and post recently, the critically-acclaimed indie Dope, has found his next project since departing DC’s The Flash film.

He’s in talks to direct Son of Shaolin. It’s based on a novel about a group of teens living in a gentrified neighborhood. A mix of Shaolin mythology and modern-day kung fu, one of the teens finds out he’s the last of his bloodline and must find a way to survive a killer.

Meanwhile, Albert Hughes has been tapped for Studio 8’s remake of the Spanish thriller, The Fury of a Patient Man. The movie revolves around a man who seeks revenge on the criminals who changed his life after a violent robbery, getting a convict who was a part of that crime to assist him.

THR reported the news of both Hughes and Famuyiwa‘s new gigs.
