Update (November 26, 2019): Authorities have confirmed the remains of 5-year-old Taylor Rose Williams were uncovered in her mother’s hometown in Alabama.

Local news station WJXT reported that the remains were found near Demopolis, Alabama, and were indeed those of Williams.

Her cause of death has not been released and is still under investigation, according to ABC News. Officials also said it’s not certain how long she was dead when her body was discovered.

The young girl was reported missing by her mother, 27-year-old Brianna Williams, on November 6. The mother, who has since been labeled a person of interest in the disappearance, has reportedly not been cooperating with authorities.

“We remain committed to working to bring justice for her,” Chief T.K. Waters said.

“It’s a very intense, very long, very detailed investigation, and those are things we are going to keep with our investigation until we go through the courts and everything else,” Waters said.

Officials said that the 5-year-old’s mother stopped speaking with investigators after exhibiting inconsistencies in her story regarding the disappearance of her daughter.

The New York Post reports that while Taylor was missing, Brianna was admitted to the hospital after attempting suicide. Following the incident, she was charged with child neglect and giving false information; however, no charges were filed in connection to Taylor’s death.

Williams’ arraignment hearing is set for December 4.

Original (November 7, 2019): An Amber Alert has been issued for a 5-year-old girl in Florida who was last seen at her home on Tuesday evening.

Florida police are on the lookout for Taylor Rose Williams, who was reported missing from her home in the Brentwood community of Jacksonville early Wednesday morning. According to reports, Williams’ family moved to a new residence over the weekend, but the girl was last seen at the Brentwood home, where the back door was unlocked.

The girl’s mother, Brianna S. Williams, told authorities that she put her daughter to sleep around midnight, and when she woke up the following morning at 7 a.m., Taylor was not in her room.

Authorities believe Williams could be in danger due to her age.

“It’s very urgent that we find her as quickly as possible,” Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Chief T.K. Waters said, according to WJXT. “We’ll work until we can’t work anymore.”

Investigators have not yet determined if the girl left her home or if she was taken. Law enforcement officials said there were no indicators of foul play at the home.

CBS 19 News reports that more than 100 emergency services officials and personnel are assisting with the search.

Williams, who is described as 3 feet tall, weighing 50 pounds with brown eyes and black hair, was last seen wearing pink and purple short-sleeved pajamas.

Authorities ask that anyone with information regarding Williams' location call 911 or contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
