Since Colin Kaepernick’s bold and courageous stance against the national anthem because of the plight of black Americans in this country, many people aren’t feeling the old tune with racist undertones.

So now, we are looking at that song like…

In the aftermath of Kaepernick’s decision, a few others have joined in, leading to a dialogue about what other songs speak to us more than the national anthem, as well as making “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” the black national anthem, the only national anthem we recognize.

Also, us looking at the national anthem…

So in the spirit of being for the culture, Kelly Rowland’s girl group, June’s Diary performed the Black National Anthem at the Celebrity Basketball Match for Ludacris’s Luda Day Weekend in Atlanta.

They gave us chills, even in the video when they were just warming up.

Then they took to center court to bless our lives.

Wouldn’t it be great if whenever black artists performed the national anthem, they did “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” instead?

But since we probably won’t stop singing The Star-Spangled Banner in the near future, let’s just acknowledge the blessing that June’s Diary gave us.
