Overcoming Challenges: Integrity and Monetization

Balancing personal integrity with the demands of monetizing creative work can be challenging. Panelists shared their struggles with explaining the value of Black content and refusing to compromise on their missions. “Integrity isn’t for sale,” Beam emphasized.

For those navigating pricing and monetization, Ellis recommended a tiered model so that people know what is offered upfront and everyone at the table knows what is what.

“That’s how I started to use [feedback] for myself, and not necessarily adapt to what they want, but what about me makes them feel like I can fit in that lane,” Beam stated.
