New York City's historic Webster Hall music venue will reopen this April with a rare "B-Sides II" concert by Jay-Z.

Billboard reports the rapper who hails from Brooklyn's Marcy Projects will be the first of many grade-A performers to grace the newly renovated space in the East Village.

The iconic music space has been closed since August 2017, which began renovations one year after being purchased for $35 million by its new owners, AEG Live (of the Bowery Presents) and Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment (BSE) (of the Barclays Center), as reported by Curbed New York.

Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter is expected to perform the second edition of his "B-Sides" concert, which includes a collection of his most popular yet least performed songs throughout his catalog. Songs such as "Imaginary Players," "In My Lifetime (Remix)" and "D'Evils" are among expected tracks. For this reason, the venue is marketing the event toward his "Day 1" fans.

The first time Jay-Z performed his "B-Sides" concert was at the Big Apple's Terminal 5 in 2015 as the re-launching pad for his Tidal streaming service; tickets were exclusive to members of his emerging music app.

Tickets will go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. ET on Ticketmaster. Another set of limited passes will be distributed via American Express for select members beginning Thursday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. ET.

The historic venue has been a staple location for musical performances since 1886, reports Page Six. The nearly two-year renovation project was intended to preserve and modernize the space.

“In renovating one of New York’s most historic and iconic venues, our goals were simple and straightforward; maintain the integrity of the space, modernize it to create an incredible concert experience for fans and performers, and book a dynamic mix of artists in music today,” said AEG Presents' Chairman and CEO Jay Marciano in a statement.

“When we were thinking about who would be the right choice to open this legendary venue, we knew it had to be a world-famous New York City icon,” BSE CEO Brett Yormark added. “No one fits that description better than Jay-Z, who will join an unparalleled list of celebrated performers who have played Webster Hall.”

Other performers who will be among the first to reopen the concert hall include Rosalia, Troyboi, Patti Smith and Her Band, MGMT, Empire of the Sun, Old Dominion, Pinegrove, Pink Sweat$, Chromeo and Big Thief, among others.
