Iconic athlete Muhammad Ali has passed away, according to NBC News. The boxing legend has reportedly been sick as of late, dealing with respiratory problems. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1984 and has been battling it since.

Born in 1942 as Cassius Clay, he won three heavyweight championships and is regarded as not only the greatest boxer of all time, but one of the greatest athletes of all time. He is remembered for numerous quotes, such as “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” Aside from his domination in the boxing ring, Ali was known for his activism, being involved with numerous social justice and civil rights issues.

He leaves behind his wife, Yolanda ‘Lonnie’ Williams, and nine kids. He was 74. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ali’s loved ones at this time. Rest in power.
