Seven-year-old Nicholas Buamah recently published his first book, Kayla & Kyle The Walking Dictionaries: Election Day. With the help of his mother, the second-grade student wrote an animated book designed to expand the vocabularies of grade school children.

The Georgia native’s goal is to have his books available at elementary schools across the country in order to build their vocabularies. While his aspirations are to help children nationally, Nicholas is earning well-deserved acclaim. His book has already been accepted into the Library of Congress!

“I developed the character of Kayla when Nicholas was younger to help teach him expanded vocabulary. After being praised by his first-grade teacher for using the word ‘collaborate’ during his first week of school, I asked Nicholas what he thought about writing a book to help his friends expand their vocabularies,” said his mother, Danielle Buamah. “He thought it was a great idea, as long as one of the main characters could be a male figure, and that’s when he created Kyle.”

Nicholas' first novel tells the story of the two twins, Kayla and Kyle, competing against each other to be the school’s class president. They’re subsequently tasked with engaging in a debate to prove themselves as candidates.

Both Nicholas’ mother and his father, Dominic Buamah, have been encouraging with their son and his vocabulary. They both explain to him the importance of exploring different activities to prepare for a future career. Currently, however, Nicholas has his eyes set on being a mechanical engineer. He is also working on his second book, which is set for release in summer 2019!
