This past weekend was the deadliest of 2016 for Chicago.

The Chicago Tribune reports that during the Halloween weekend, 17 people were fatally shot and 42 more were wounded. Seven of the victims were under the age of 20, including two 17-year-old twins, Edward and Edwin Bryant, who were shot and killed in what appears to be a drive-by shooting. This makes the homicide total 614 as of Sunday, which is 200 more than the rate for the city at this time last year. The last time there were more homicides at this point in the year was nearly 20 years ago in 1997. And the shooting incidents for the year are up 46 percent. At least 3,662 have been shot this year.

This past weekend, the Chicago police moved their resources to accommodate the extreme crowds for the Word Series games at Wrigley Field. The department canceled days off and required officers to work 12-hour shifts, however, so Superintendent Eddie Johnson says they were not short on officers in the rest of the city.

According to the Tribune, the only parts of the city that didn’t see gun violence this weekend were the far North and Northwest parts.
