Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott is being honored for her legendary musical achievements by Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

CBS' Alex Spearman shared a tweet, stating she was the first female hip-hop artist to receive an honorary doctorate from the school. The 47-year-old retweeted a comment to express her excitement.

According to a press release on Berklee's website, Elliott will be receiving her degree at its commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11, at the Agganis Arena at Boston University.

The five-time Grammy winner will be celebrated for several achievements, including her work on six studio albums and continued chart-topping Billboard success with songs like “Get Ur Freak On” and “Work It."

The doctorate will serve as a recognition of her musical accomplishments, influence and global impact. Elliott's latest honor places her alongside musical greats who preceded her such as Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King and Smokey Robinson.

Berklee President Roger H. Brown is set to present awards to Elliott, Justin Timberlake and alumni Alex Lacamoire. This June, the "Supa Dupa Fly" singer will also be the first female hip-hop artist inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
