A white police officer in Florida has been fired after yanking a Black girl by her hair and slamming her against a car.

According to ABC News, the incident began when two officers were responding to a fight between students outside Westridge Middle School in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday. Bodycam footage shows one of the deputies pulling the girl by her head and holding her against the back of a car with her arms held behind her back.

After detaining the girl, the officer yells at the rest of the crowd watching the incident.

"Back off, I'm tired of everybody here," the officers says in the video. "This is because you're silly. You're all stupid little children."

Orange County Sheriff John Mina spoke to reporters Friday, saying the officer was out of control.

"I am extremely upset, disappointed and outraged by the conduct of our deputy sheriff in this instance," Mina said. "I want the community to know that this type of behavior is not going to be tolerated at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office."

The footage shows one officer, who arrived first, telling the girl to relax. But Mina said the second deputy came later and escalated the situation.

According to the Orlando Sentinel the officer, identified as Harry Reid, was hired in February.

“I want the residents of Orange County to know this: That deputy’s behavior and actions violated many policies, our standards — but, more importantly, the vision and expectations that I have set as sheriff and definitely will not be tolerated, and I want our deputy sheriffs to know that as well,” Mina told reporters.

The Sheriff’s Office told the Orlando Sentinel that the girl was not arrested, but she was detained and later released to her family.

According to a call-for-service log obtained by the Sentinel, officers were responding after someone called about a large group of students fighting, running around and jumping on vehicles. The log described an ongoing conflict between two groups of girls which already led to other incidents at the school in recent weeks.

Orange County Public Schools released a statement and praised Mina for quickly firing Reid.

According to NBC News, there was another violent confrontation at a Florida school in the same week. That incident involved a deputy in Broward County, who was seen slamming a 15-year-old girl to the floor. The officer was charged with child abuse without great bodily harm.

Earlier this year, another officer in Broward County slammed a teenager's head against the ground.

The officer involved in the latest incident at Westridge Middle School could face a criminal investigation, NBC News reported.
