The Superbowl is Sunday, and South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has declared the event "Stand for the Flag Super Bowl Sunday."

I ask that all South Carolinians show the world our state’s resolute commitment to supporting our troops by standing for the national anthem wherever you watch the Super Bowl with your loved ones this Sunday. #IStand

Are we going to acknowledge the problem that caused "Take a Knee" protests first, or jump straight to proclamations infringing on rights? While McMaster's proclamation is not an enacted law, it feels like he's trying to force people to stand.

"Whereas, the American flag is the greatest symbol of freedom the world has ever known," the proclamation reads. "Standing for life, liberty, the American dream and the millions of American men and women who fought, and died, to defend it."

This proclamation comes after NBC Sports Executive Producer Fred Gaudelli announced at a Television Critics Association event earlier this month that any players who kneel for the anthem "will be shown live."
