Warner Bros.’ upcoming film, Methuselah, which has Michael B. Jordan set to star, has found its director. Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) will direct the pic. Simon Beaufoy will write the latest version of the script, which has gone through several rewrites over the years. Tom Gilroy wrote the most recent version.

Jordan was first attached to the film last year. Tom Cruise was originally attached. Variety reports, ‘The original concept for the film was based on the Biblical story of a man who lived to be 969 years old. But sources say that has changed, and the creative team is taking a new approach with the plot.” The film is eyed as the beginning of a franchise.

When Jordan first came aboard the project last year, Deadline said, “The idea is for Jordan to play a man who has managed to survive for hundreds of years, without showing the physical signs of age. In that time, he has accumulated vast intellectual knowledge, from multiple languages to the sciences, as well as survival skills.”

Jordan is a producer on the project via his Outlier Society banner, along with Outlier’s Head of Production, Alana Mayo.
