Bob Marley transitioned in 1981, leaving behind a legacy of positivity and becoming a cultural icon in the process. Marley shared Rastafari spiritualism with the world and gave us music that allows us to feel a little better. Here are seven quotes from the "One Love" crooner that even in the chaos of 2020, might make us feel alright.

1. “What important is man should live in righteousness, in natural love for mankind.” Rock’s Backpages Audio, July 1975

Marley never personally fancied himself a politician, but his music carried political messages that called for unity. At his height, he became an influential figure in Jamaica regarded by politicians as such. Even then, Marley's message was one of unity and love.

2. "One love, one heart. Let’s get together and feel all right."

Of Marley's most recognized songs, this lyric from "One Love" is likely to come to mind when thinking of coconut rum punch and ocean views. To put it frankly, it never ceases to be a vibe. There's probably no other song and lyric with the distinct ability to induce chill vibes on demand.

3. "Love the life you live. Live the life you love."

Marley was a prolific songwriter. On the opposite of political messages, many of his urgings were simple: enjoy and love life to the fullest like "Live A Life of Love."

4. "None but ourselves can free our mind."

Messages don't have to be all kumbaya to make you feel a sense of peace. Marley called for love and unity but was deeply concerned about injustice and the oppression of his people. In "Redemption Song," Marley channels Marcus Garvey and reminds us that mental slavery is real and we're the only ones who can free ourselves.

5. “Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you riding through the ruts, don’t complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy."

Especially in this political climate, it's easy to be weighed down with the shenanigans swirling around us. It would be easy to get as hateful as some of the instances we see in the news. This quote from "Wake Up And Live" emphasizes that there's always another road we can take.

6. “One good thing about music—when it hits you, you feel no pain.”

This lyric from "Trenchtown Rock" has made it's way to music by Dead Prez to Drake because it's just that powerful.

7. “Don’t worry about a thing ’cause every little thing gonna be alright.”

One of his most famed lyrics, this sage advice from "Three Little Birds" is a reminder that everything will be OK.

Life can be stressful as is. There's a reason that Marley's music, philosophies, legacy and herbal encouragement have carved out its own following in pop culture. It's really good to be reminded sometimes that everything will, eventually, be alright.
