A Texas pizzeria owner has been accused of racism and unjustly calling the police on two black women.

According to Newsweek, Tamika Sanders and her aunt, Shiri Gupton, went to Carmine’s Pizzeria last Friday, and the owner, Carlos Pinto, was annoyed because they arrived 20 minutes before closing time.

In a video posted on Sanders’ Facebook page, Pinto is on the phone as one of the women accuses him of calling them “darkies.” At one point, he told the authorities the women have a “racial problem” with him and that they might be carrying a knife.

Sanders told Eater Dallas she felt threatened by Pinto’s behavior.

“I thought he was going to hit me; I have never felt so threatened in my life,” said Sanders. “I was afraid to turn my back to walk out.”

Gupton said she believes Pinto told the police they had a knife to provoke action from the officers.

“We had no knives, but he knew how to lie to police dispatch, what to say to have the cops come with their weapons drawn,” Gupton says. “It felt like this man wanted us dead.”
