A couple days ago, Representative Frederica S. Wilson (D-FL) said that President Donald Trump told U.S. Army Sergeant La David Johnson's widow Myeshia Johnson that "he knew what he signed up for … but when it happens, it hurts anyway," when he was killed during a mission in Niger. Wilson said she had listened in on the call because she was close with the family.

Naturally, President Trump took to Twitter to deny that he said Johnson "knew what he signed up for," and accused Wilson of lying.

Representative Wilson stood her ground, heading to Twitter with her own statement:

Following that back-and-forth, Wilson called out White House Chief of Staff John Kelly for criticizing her during a White House press briefing. Kelly claimed that Wilson took credit for securing FBI field office funding, according to CNN.

Kelly was referring to the FBI field office named after two FBI agents who were killed in a gunfight related to drug trafficking.

"And a congresswoman stood up, and in a long tradition of empty barrels making the most noise, stood up there in all of that and talked about how she was instrumental in getting the funding for that building, and how she took care of her constituents because she got the money, and she just called up President Obama, and on that phone call, he gave the money, the $20 million, to build the building, and she sat down," Kelly said. "And we were stunned, stunned that she'd done it. Even for someone that is that empty a barrel, we were stunned."

"I was not even in Congress in 2009 when the money for the building was secured," retorted Wilson on CNN's New Day. "So that's a lie. How dare he. However, I named the building at the behest of [then-FBI Director James Comey] with the help of [then-House Speaker John Boehner], working across party lines. So he didn't tell the truth."

The South Florida Sun Sentinel then released video of the speech Kelly criticized Wilson for. The video showed that Wilson was telling the truth, and the Kelly had lied to the press.

As the world learned with the "by the pussy" tape, a little recorded evidence is nothing when it comes to the president. And so, Trump went to Twitter again on Friday referring to media coverage on Wilson using his infamous term, "fake news."

Overall, Wilson wants the main focus of the White House to be on investigating how the Niger attack that took Johnson's life happened, and why Johnson's body was found so long after the bodies of three other soldiers were recovered.

"My emphasis today is on my constituents and helping them lay our hero to rest," she said. "That's where my head is today. I'm also concerned about [Sergeant La David Johnson] and his last moments. I want to know why he was separated from the rest of the soldiers."

"Why did it take 48 hours to find him? Was he still alive? Was he kidnapped? What's going on? … I am distraught and so is the family," she added." There are so many questions that should be answered."
