A 17-year-old student in Douglas County, Georgia, has been accepted into 39 colleges and received a whopping $1.6 million in scholarship money.

Jordan Nixon is a Douglas County High School senior whose academic achievement brought her into the national spotlight. According to CBS 46 News, the teen applied to approximately 50 colleges with 39 accepting her. She received one rejection letter and a few deferrals, but she's also waiting to hear from a few more schools.

“The crazy thing is, I’m still waiting on decision letters, but I was not expecting that at all,” Jordan told CBS 46.

Among the list of 39 schools, she was accepted to Howard University, Tuskegee University, Grambling State University and several other prominent historically Black colleges, according to 11 Alive News.

This incredible achievement also makes history; Jordan is the only student in her school's history to be accepted into 39 colleges. Her parents, Angelia and Arthur Nixon, remarked on Jordan's hard work.

“We’re so happy for her because she does put in a lot of due diligence into applying for these schools,” the couple said.

In addition to her studies, she is a varsity cheerleader, involved in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy and an active participant in Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA).

College and Career Center Specialist Pinky Quick said Jordan utilized an app called Common Black to apply to several colleges at once.

“Students like Jordan who took advantage of being able to apply to a lot of schools through certain avenues like the Common Black App, you can apply to a lot of schools with one low price for that one, and also Common App they can apply to up to 20 schools at one time on one App,” Quick said in an interview with CBS 46.

Jordan will also have an abundance of scholarship money to pay for her education. She was awarded a hefty total of $1.6 million in scholarship funds.

As of this report, the high achiever has not decided on what school to attend and is still weighing her options. News of Jordan's record-setting college acceptance letters come after a fellow Georgian Kayla E. Willis, a Westlake High School student, was accepted into 40 colleges and received a sum of $900,000 in scholarships.
