We’ve seen actress Yara Shahidi grow into her own on the critically acclaimed show Black-ish, playing the savvy and sassy teenager Zoey. Now, as the star of its Grown-ish spinoff, she’s creating new lanes for herself as a brand influencer, social activist and most recently, as an artist that can make us nostalgic.

The 20-year-old sent fans on a trip to the 1990s when she posted Zoey’s look for the season finale of Grown-ish to Instagram.

The "I Don't Wanna" singer’s 1996 Tommy Hilfiger Jeans advertising campaign was an iconic moment in her career, one that is often imitated in many Halloween costumes and at parties.

Grown-ish fans can catch this look in live-action when they tune into the spring finale, which airs Thursday on Freeform. The upcoming episode, titled “Zoey’s Big Decision,” will celebrate Zoey’s 21st birthday with a ‘90s-themed party.

A trailer released of the finale gives a nod to Black Hollywood stars Samuel L. Jackson, Janet Jackson and Aaliyah.

Like Aaliyah, Shahidi is finding success as an innovator in socially conscious fashion. She joined Coach’s 2019 Fall ad campaign alongside actor Michael B. Jordan and told People that the campaign’s theme aligned with her aspirations to create change in the world.

"Focusing on dreaming your biggest dream, really spoke to me because imagination and hope, to me, is foundational in creating personal and global change,” Shahidi said. “Increasing accessibility and resources on a philanthropic level makes this campaign more than just messaging, but can turn dreams into reality.”

The Imagine That actress also was chosen as one of the celeb faces of Beyonce’s Ivy Park fashion line in 2017.
