The Sean Anderson Foundation, founded by rapper Big Sean, joined other local organizations Tuesday in distributing turkeys, canned goods and holiday meal trimmings to over 5,000 Detroit families at a local high school.

The Annual All-Star Giveback: Turkey Drive, an annual Thanksgiving-themed charity event, attracted high-profile guests, like NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton, Hall of Fame Boxer Tommy “Hitman” Hearns, rapper Sada Baby and actress Leah Jeffries, among others.

"Somebody asked me, ‘How does it feel to see such a long line outside?’ and I’m like, ‘It’s not a line for a concert. It’s a line because they’re families in need,’" Sean said, according to Click On Detroit. "So, hopefully this inspires people to want to give back more."

The event comes after the rapper partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan in August to unveil a new content and production studio. The weekend celebration also included a block party and a mental health awareness panel.

The Sean Anderson Foundation was founded in 2012 to assist in the education, safety and well-being of young people and families in underserved communities.

"I want to be an inspiration to young people, by showing them that hard work and determination pay off, to be an example of what can happen when you follow your dreams, and to be an instrument of encouragement for us all to help ourselves and to support one another," the rapper said in a statement on the foundation website. "Detroit and the entire country have shown me so much love and I passionately want to return that love."

This was the seventh consecutive year Big Sean participated in the Turkey Drive, and we're sure it won't be the last.
