The 20-year-old, whose name has been withheld as he was 17 at the time of Pop Smoke’s murder, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery in an Inglewood, California, courtroom.

The defendant admitted to entering the rented Hollywood Hills mansion intending to rob Pop Smoke, who was killed in the struggle with him and three other assailants. According to The Los Angeles Times, the defendant was not allowed to include the two years and eight months he spent at a juvenile detention center since his arrest. Instead, he was sentenced to four years and two months in a regional juvenile treatment facility. Judge J. Christopher Smith warned the defendant could remain in juvenile custody until age 25.
