A white officer has been fired from the England Police Department in Arkansas after telling a group of local black men they “don’t belong in my city.” This decision comes weeks after the initial complaint and not long following a viral video from the scene.

The incident occurred on July 21 when officer Michael Moore reportedly began to monitor and follow cousins Demarcus Bunch and Shannon Scribner as they changed locations to film a music video in their town.

In a Facebook video released by Bunch on Tuesday, August 7, that now boasts over 30,000 views, the cousins approached Moore to introduce themselves. Bunch has an uncle on the same police force and thought the best course of action would be explaining who they were and what they were doing.

“We are Dale Scribner’s nephews,” Bunch said.

“We are here just trying to record a video,” Scribner added.

“OK, and?” Moore responded.

After they asked why the officer was following them, Moore told them, “You know why. Because you don’t belong in my city.”

“But we’re from here,” Bunch said.

“But you understand, I know who my people are, right? Who belongs here and who doesn’t?” Moore said. “We’ve got gang wars going on, we’ve got all kinds of stuff. I come from the big city where this stuff is small, OK? So that’s cool. Do your thing.”

“You said we don’t belong in your city, though?” Bunch asked.

“Can I say something? OK… I have never seen you here before, and I know almost everybody here,” Moore said.

When Bunch started to provide his address and inform Moore about the local high school he attended, Moore concluded by saying, “Well, good for you, my name is Mike Moore, OK. I’m not from here,” and warned the two men to step back because he was going to bring out his canines.

After filing a complaint with Police Chief Danna Powell, Bunch said he waited but never received a response, The Hill reports.

“We wanted to give the chief the opportunity to perform her investigation, so we held the video close to our chest and waited for her to provide a response,” Scribner said.

“Personally, I feel like the chief should be held accountable, as well, for allowing him to even continue to work as long as he’s worked after [the] showing of the video,” Bunch said.

According to CNN, 15 days after the filing, Bunch uploaded the video on Tuesday. Moore was fired on Wednesday.
