R&B artist Tank appeared on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday and revealed a hilarious encounter he had with Prince.

“Prince looked at me once and it threw me off,” Tank said on the show. “I didn’t like the way I felt. That’s all I’m gonna say.”

But the hosts, of course, pressed the artist to reveal more about the incident. Tank then proceeded to tell the story, saying he was at a huge party in a fancy hotel when Prince suddenly came in with his entourage and stared him down from a distance.

“He was literally staring at me,” Tank said. “I don’t know if he knows my music. It was my first time ever seeing Prince. I don’t know what it is.”

The “Purple Rain” singer then started walking toward the shocked R&B artist. Prince, according to Tank, gave him another side-eye look before walking past him.

“I just stood there,” Tank said, adding that they didn’t say anything to each other.

Co-host Angela Yee asked the artist if he remembers doing anything to Prince before that encounter.

“I didn’t do anything,” Tank replied.

Although he was shocked in the moment, the Grammy-winning singer was already aware of Prince’s personality.

“If he likes you or respects you in some kind of way, he’s known for showing it in a very weird way,” Tank said.

To illustrate his point, Tank referred back to his friend’s encounter with Prince. Tank said the late artist sprayed his friend with purple spray because he liked how he was playing the guitar.

“He had abnormal praise practices,” the R&B singer added.

Tank never figured out why Prince gave him strange vibes at the party. Although Tank went to a club with Prince for the afterparty on that night, the two still didn’t speak to each other.

“As soon as we walked in, Prince looked over and left,” he said.

Tank gloated about his own looks as he tried to guess why Prince would stare him down.

“I’m slightly attractive,” he said. “Maybe Prince can recognize handsomeness.”
