Pride Month is coming to an end, but not before Tess Thompson made it clear to the world that she is attracted to both men and women.
After Thompson's co-starring role in Janelle Monáe's Dirty Computer, speculation about the duo's chemistry being more romantic than platonic began to swirl. Pair that with the fact Monáe came out as pansexual shortly after, the rumors continued to fly. Now, Thompson is letting us all know that it's perfectly fine for you to think whatever you want because she's comfortable in her bisexuality.
In an interview with Net-A-Porter, the Creed II star opens up about her sexuality in so many words.
“I can take things for granted because of my family – it’s so free, and you can be anything that you want to be," she began. "I’m attracted to men and also to women. If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we don’t even have to have the discussion.”
Thompson still doesn't confirm or deny her romantic ties to Monáe because she seemingly prefers to leave that up to our imagination. However, she does speak on how close they are, saying they "vibrate on the same frequency."
“It’s tricky, because Janelle and I are just really private people, and we’re both trying to navigate how you reconcile wanting to have that privacy and space and also wanting to use your platform and influence,” Thompson said. “That was something I was conscientious of in terms of this declaration around Janelle and myself. I want everyone else to have that freedom and support that I have from my loved ones."
“But so many people don’t. So, do I have a responsibility to talk about that? Do I have a responsibility to say in a public space that this is my person?”
Girl, we'd sure love to know if she's your person!
“We love each other deeply,” she said. “We’re so close; we vibrate on the same frequency. If people want to speculate about what we are, that’s okay. It doesn’t bother me.”
That's about as much as she seems willing to give us, but we'll take it. Just know, the shipping of Monáe and Thompson just got even stronger.
