A Texas father is being praised after dancing along with his 15-year-old daughter, Jazlin, and her cheer team at a high school football game.
Andre Simmons didn’t miss a beat as he performed with Jazlyn and her friends in Temple, Texas. His wife, Cecelia, couldn’t stop laughing while she recorded her husband dancing along with the young ladies on the sidelines.
“Everyone always asks Andrè Simmons about the boys continuing his football legacy little do they know he’s waited his whole life to be a cheer dad,” Cecelia captioned the clip, which has received over 55,000 likes across TikTok.
After the viral moment, Simmons appeared on Good Morning America, where he shared how he practiced for a few days to learn the cheer routine. He said he did it because he wanted to “create a lifelong memory.”
Due to his work as an infantryman, Simmons spends a lot of time away from home, so finding the opportunity to see his daughter perform with her cheer team was extra special for him.
He said it was his “way of supporting her and kind of trying to make up that time lost is doing things that she loves and surprising her with joining her in the cheer during the football game.”
It’s safe to say the Simmons family will never forget this viral moment.
“I love to try to be a super dad when I’m here and create those lifelong memories and it’s something for us to look back on and enjoy together,” Simmons said.
And in case you’re wondering, Simmons plans to dance along with his daughter again in the near future.
“At the end of the day, it’s all for her,” he said. “So I’m gonna get up there and do the cheer with her.”
