One Houston Judge has us all asking, what the hell is going on?

Judge Hilary H. Green has been suspended amid accusations that she sexted in the courtroom, used her bailiff to buy drugs, hired prostitutes and once brought home marijuana seized from a defendant.

While we know the Justice System can be a confusing and unfortunate thing, this isn't what most people expect to hear about a black judge so popular in her precinct.

Her lawyer  pointed out that many of the accusations had long been public, and yet voters overwhelmingly reelected Green as a Harris County justice of the peace. Therefor, the Supreme Court ruling to suspend her was “frustrating and surprising.”

Green has not been charged with a crime, but she was suspended from the Houston court in which she served this past Friday. She oversaw misdemeanors, traffic cases and small civil suits since 2007.

She was once married to one of Houston’s most powerful officials, City Controller Ronald C. Green, with whom she has a child. Their nasty split ultimately brought on allegations that eventually led to her suspension.

Judge Green claimed her husband had cheated on her and concealed assets. Ronald Green called his wife a drug addict who “operates daily with impaired judgment as evidenced by her presiding over cases in which she has ongoing sexual relationships with litigants and witnesses.”

As messy as it was, those accusations prompted it to file a formal complaint against the judge.

A former lover, Claude Barnes, stepped forward with more allegations including a threesome which the judge denies. He also claims they did ecstasy and smoke marijuana together on several occasions. Barnes also alleged she has brought home marijuana that her bailiff swiped off a kid in her courtroom. The commission also said it obtained hundreds of texts between Green and a bailiff which were of the sexting capacity.

One text message between her and her bailiff read "did you hear back from ‘lover boy?’” To which she admits and clarifies clarified that “lover boy” was a supplier of cough medicine, which she said she later gave the bailiff $500 to buy. We know it's Houston, but a judge sippin' on that sizzurp isn't really a good look.

Ultimately, Green admitted to abusing drugs “almost every night” for several years, according to court records.

In May, the commission asked the state Supreme Court to suspend Green while it prepared a case to permanently remove her from the bench. Her lawyer claims that her drug abuse ended around 2013 and 2014 with Green seeking help.

“She sought help and her doctors testifies she was drug free and didn’t have any problem," her lawyer said. "And then she got reelected with 86 percent of the vote.”

Ultimately, the court disagreed and Green was suspended. Green’s suspension will last until a civil trial can be held to consider whether to remove her from office. Unfortunately, that could take years.

We don't know what Judge Green was going through at the time, but that's a whole lot of whole lotta. Let's just say a small prayer to Jesus asking him to fix it.
