A KFC location in Lubbock, Texas has released a statement to address a racist message that was posted on the restaurant’s sign outside.
According to Everything Lubbock, a KFC spokesperson said the restaurant was “vandalized with an appalling message.”
Employees found the racist message when they came to open the store on Tuesday, but the slur was “immediately removed,” the spokesperson added.
Images posted to social media showed that the N-word was written on the KFC sign.
Workers at a KFC in central Lubbock say they came in to work Tuesday morning and saw the N-word placed on their outdoor sign.

The Lubbock KFC also posted a message on the restaurant’s window to address the troubling incident.
“Overnight on April 4th the sign at a local KFC restaurant was vandalized with an appalling message,” the KFC location stated. “This is an act of hate through vandalism. After discovering the sign had been vandalized and the letters had been changed overnight, the local restaurant team immediately changed the sign and contacted the police. Hate has no place at any KFC.”
Police said a report was filed, but it’s not yet released for the public.
