The Fort Worth Police Department has launched an investigation concerning a video that shows its officers pinning down and punching a Fort Worth, Texas man who has been identified as 35-year-old Forrest Curry, NBC News reports.

The incident reportedly began with a call regarding an intoxicated man running away from police. A local man driving by witnessed the incident and captured it on video.

"While we are actively investigating the incident, we are unable to release the full details at this time," said Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald in the news release on Sunday, according to Star Telegram.

"The video being circulated depicts officers struggling with the male and striking him as they attempt to handcuff him," Fitzgerald continued. "What the video does not depict is that it took three officers and one supervisor to effectively place the resisting subject into handcuffs." Police also note that the scuffle lasted about five minutes.

The officers' names have not yet been released.

"We are focusing on getting the victim of this police violence out of custody and ensuring that he receives the necessary medical attention for injuries suffered during the heavy-handed arrest by officers with the Fort Worth Police Department,"said Curry's attorneys, Jasmine Crockett and Chris Stewart in a written statement according to the Dallas News. "Unfortunately, it seems the Forth Worth Police Department has a culture of violating the rights of people of color."

Crockett claims that her client was not drunk, but instead suffered a seizure. Crockett also posits that Curry may have suffered a seizure during his arrest as well.

Curry was held at Tarrant County Jail on $2,250 bail on resisting arrest charges.
