Alena Wicker, a 12-year-old girl from Texas, will soon be virtually attending Arizona State University after graduating from high school. The aspiring engineer, who plans to work for NASA, plans to major in astronomical and planetary science, as well as chemistry. 

The child, who hopes to work for NASA by the time she's 16 years old, has been clear about her intentions she was a little girl.

"She would always say, 'Mommy, I'm going to work for NASA.' Then she would start saying, 'I'm going to be the youngest Black girl to ever work for NASA – watch,'" Alena's mother, Daphne McQuarter, told Good Morning America
