Admiral Sylvia Trent-Adams is a game-changer!

With 24 years of service under her belt, Trent-Adams is the first black non-physician to take on the role as acting Surgeon General. The esteemed veteran previously worked as for the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, a chief nurse officer for the last three years. Trent-Adams took over for Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, who was chosen by former president Barack Obama.

Sylvia Trent-Adams is a Hampton University alumna with a Bachelor's and M.S. in Nursing along with a PhD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. As the surgeon general, she will actively pursue new ideas and push for legislature and information gathered to keep the country's health concerns a priority.

One word: major!
