Camryn Green is barely a teenager but has already written a children's book – and sold about 500 of her original paintings. The inspirational 13-year-old can also add "philanthropist" to her list of impressive titles. She uses a portion of the profits from her paintings to support orphans in Liberia.

In an interview with The News & Observer, the North Carolina teen shared that she started painting at 4 years old, and began selling her original artwork four years later.

"I always wanted to be an artist," she said. "I’ve been painting since I was [4 years old], although I’ve never taken any art classes. One day I just stopped the color-by-number painting, got out a canvas and painted freehand, and it actually looked pretty good."

At 8 years old, Green and her mom first shared her artwork on a Facebook page, but then created website Camryn’s Creations once orders started coming in, Green told News&Observer. Since then, she has sold about 500 paintings ranging from $20 to $100. 

Green uses the money for her college fund, her business, and to support orphans in Liberia. 

"Some of it’s going into a college fund, some goes back into the business, and I also give back to the orphans in Liberia whose parents have died and they can’t afford to go to school," she told News&Observer.

She added that she has been able to sponsor a yearly scholarship for a young girl for the past two years.

Green is also the author of “Think It, Believe It, Do It,” which is a motivational children's book featuring the 13-year-old's original illustrations.

Recently, Green was invited to speak at 38th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Interfaith Prayer Breakfast in Raleigh, North Carolina, News&Observer reported. The 13-year-old said it was an "honor."

"It was such an honor to speak for such an important man," she said. "He helped us have our civil rights as African-Americans. If he was alive, I hope he would be proud of me. It was life-changing. Everyone at school was like, 'Good job Camryn, I’m so proud of you.'"
