The San Francisco 49ers weren't the only ones who took a loss on Super Bowl Sunday.
Donald Trump also suffered defeat as he failed in his attempt to congratulate the Kansas City Chiefs on their Super Bowl victory.
"Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on a great game, and a fantastic comeback, under immense pressure," the president tweeted. "You represented the Great State of Kansas and, in fact, the entire USA, so very well. Our Country is PROUD OF YOU!"
Twitter, of course, jumped on the opportunity to give the president a fourth-grade geography lesson.
"It's Missouri you stone cold idiot," former Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill tweeted.

The president eventually deleted the tweet and corrected his mistake, but the hits kept coming.
"We know you thought they were from the state of Kansas," writer and comedian Nick Jack Pappas said. "The internet is forever."

Another Twitter user said, "I miss having a President that knows Kansas City is not a state."

And it wasn't just Americans who took a shot at the president.
"Even me from Germany knows that Kansas City is in Missouri, you un-American, instable [sic] loser," one person said.

Twitter users also took the opportunity to remind Trump about his previous gaffes, including that time he drew on a map with a Sharpie to suggest Hurricane Dorian would threaten Alabama.
"Quick, someone knock the Sharpie out of Trump’s hands before he redraws the map of Kansas," tweeted writer and producer Bryan Behar.

According to The Washington Post, the president has made numerous other geographical errors over the years. In October, he reportedly claimed that the border wall was being built in Colorado, which borders New Mexico but not Mexico. The 45th president also referred to Belgium as "a beautiful city."
