Some quickie TV casting news…

First, Xosha Roquemore has been promoted from guest-star to what Deadline calls a “heavily recurring role” on TV Land‘s Kirstie Alley comedy series, Kirstie’s New Show, which stars Alley as MadisonMaddieBanks, a Broadway star who finds her life turned upside down her long-lost son turns up looking to connect after his adopted mother dies.
Roquemore will reprise her guest-starring role as Tanya, Alley’s chef. She’ll appear in 6 out of the first season’s 12 episodes. 
The show begins production in the summer for fall premiere.

nullSecondly, former co-star of The Closer, Robert Gossett, who had a recurring role on TNT’s drama series Major Crimes, has been upgraded to a series regular, playing Assistant Chief Russell Taylor, Captain Raydor’s (Mary McDonnell’s) direct superior – the same character he recurred with on the first season of Major Crimes, which is a spin-off of The Closer spinoff.

Gossett’s promotion will begin in the upcoming second season of Major Crimes, which will premiere on June 10, 2013.

Gossett was a series regular during all 7 seasons of The Closer, fro 2005 to 2012.
