Twitter may be great for the innocent chuckle or two and the spreading of information, but don't get the platform twisted: the social media tool is also a harsh teacher for folks who step out of line.

Such was the case with singer Demi Lovato, who was forced to deactivate her account after users did not respond well to a tweet posted by the "Neon Lights" singer that made light of rapper 21 Savage's possible deportation.

On Sunday, Blavity reported the "X" rapper was arrested by government agency ICE Sunday morning after authorities claimed he was living in the United States on an expired visa. According to ICE, the philanthropist is a citizen of the United Kingdom.

While no one should have been laughing at the circumstance, memes mocking Savage's predicament began circulating, and Lovato decided to get in on the joke.

The former child actress was then in for an uncomfortable awakening.

Of course, one user gave her the Soulja Boy treatment.

Shhh.
