While the world condemns President Donald Trump for his offensive remarks about other nations, he has an ally in Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, the BBC reports.

"America has got one of the best presidents ever," said Museveni during the opening of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). “I love Trump because he tells Africans frankly. The Africans need to solve their problems, the Africans are weak.”

Trump has been dogged by controversy after being accused of calling Haiti, El Salvador and some African countries “shitholes” during a meeting. The White House said Trump did not make the comments despite other attendees saying that he did.

Several African leaders expressed their disappointment about Trump's alleged comments. Ebba Kalondo, a spokeswoman for the African Union, said she was “frankly alarmed” by the U.S. president's words. “This is particularly surprising as the United States of America remains a global example of how migration gave birth to a nation built on strong values of diversity and opportunity,” she said.

Botswana’s government called the comments “reprehensible and racist.”

Senegal’s president also criticized Trump's words, saying, “Africa and the black race merit the respect and consideration of all."
