Usain Bolt is not only considered the fastest man in the world but he's now being dubbed the next king of reggae.
The eight-time Olympic gold medalist is entering the music industry with his debut studio album, Country Yutes, which has dominated the music charts and even surpassed Bob Marley’s tribute album, Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers, and moved into the No. 1 spot on the iTunes reggae charts.
"If you have followed my career over the years, you would see me always dancing and listening to music. It's no secret to the world that I love music. Music has just always been a part of my DNA," Bolt said about the release, which peaked at No. 1 on iTunes, HotNewHipHop reports.
The Jamaican native collaborated with his manager Nugent "NJ" Walker on the album, which was done as an ode to his home country and embodies the eclectic sounds of the island.
The new project also features artists like Bibi Gardner, Kamal Evans and Jae Xo. Songs “Living the Dream” and “It’s a Party” are two of the album's hit tracks that have topped the music charts.
"I don’t really sing the songs, but I want to produce, I want to be a part of them because I love music so much,” the 35-year-old said, The Athletic reports. "I just want to be like a Khaled — a DJ Khaled.”
“I’m aiming for the top, you know what I mean? I want to get as many No. 1s as possible, I want to win a Grammy, get ‘Best Album’ — I’m just working,” he continued. “I’m not setting limits for myself. I’m just going to work and just aim for the top. That’s what I always do, and that’s been my mentality throughout my life. I’m not going to change.”
Though he and his team are already poised for music industry success, Bolt wants to ensure that he is truly honing and cultivating his craft by taking time to perfect his work.
"We’re just trying to get a foothold, trying to make people understand that we’re not just here joking around,” he said. “We’re serious about the music so we’re just going to take our time. Just like in track and field, it’s all about work and dedicating and just taking our time."
