You can always count on Van Jones to say the things we all are thinking on national television. During a taping of CNN's State of the Union on Sunday, Jones shared his thoughts on Donald Trump's relationship with Russia. It's been confirmed that Russia's hacking was an attempt to influence the Presidential election. President Obama has condemned the acts of Russia and has vowed to retaliate against them. However, President-elect Trump isn't so angry or concerned about the actions of his Russian allies. Despite this, the acts of Russia are seen to some as an act of war, cyber war.
"So you have an active attack on our country and the President-elect cannot find it in himself to say this is wrong and it needs to stop?" Jones told Jake Tapper during State of the Union."Yes, other presidents tried say nice things about the Russians and you know, warm things … (but) not in the face of an active attack on the country! Cyber war is real war," he said. Jones seems to be just as baffled as we are at Trump's ability to respond to Twitter attacks and other personal attacks.Yet he has chosen not to apply the same level of shade and anger towards Russia based on the hacking. Instead, Trump has thrown shots the US intel community, going after the CIA.
"This is baffling to anybody with a functioning brain stem," Jones stated passionately to the panel and viewers. He then went on to say, "Everybody sitting here, trying to pretend this is normal? It's not normal and it's dangerous."
Looks like we are going to have to hope that President Obama handles this before he leaves office. If not, we can assume that Trump will allow this to go unchecked.
