Victoria Monét has finally dropped the highly anticipated visuals for her latest single, “Alright,” and it’s safe to say the wait was worth it.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, Monét collaborated with Canadian music producer and rapper Kaytranada, who transformed the popular song into a certified club banger. It is featured on her debut album, Jaguar II, released in August.

The three-time Grammy Award-winning singer enlisted choreographer Sean Bankhead, director Dave Meyers, and stylist Kollin Carter to bring her vision to life throughout the video. The visual allows fans to relive some of the most iconic music videos from the ’90s and early 2000s, offering a sense of nostalgia as Monét primarily channels Michael and Janet Jackson, though references to Missy Elliott, Beyoncé, Britney Spears and more can be noticed.

From donning Michael’s iconic attire from his 1988 hit music video “Smooth Criminal” to being surrounded by a troupe of dancers in the rain, reminiscent of Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love,” the 35-year-old ensures that “Alright” maintains its status as a fan favorite, particularly this summer.

The Source reported that Monét shared what “Alright” means to her in a statement.

“‘Alright’ is about liberation and freedom at its core! This video is a visual presentation of that sentiment through freedom of movement and fluidity between masculine and feminine energy. It was an honor to work alongside Dave Meyers and Sean Bankhead and this cast on this visual! What a crazy combo!!” she said in a statement.

Monét continued, “Plus, EVERY single person who had their hands on this visual was extremely passionate from inception, and we all worked really hard to bring it to life! They showed up with their A game surpassing what we all imagined. Serious teamwork! We all patiently and meticulously crafted it and are extremely excited to release it into the world! There’s no better month to release this visual than pride month, black music month and the beginning of summer 24! I can’t wait to see where dance artists and the ballroom culture take it.”

The video has since circulated on X, formerly Twitter, with fans sharing their thoughts and reactions.
