In news that surprises absolutely no one, police in Henrico, Virginia are investigating a video on Snapchat of middle school students simulating sex and yelling racial slurs to black students who appear to be unwilling participants.

According to KSLA, the incident happened on Oct. 13 in the locker rooms at Short Pump Middle School before football practice. The video shows football players simulating sex with black players who are pinned to the ground with other students on top of them.

Text at the start of the video asks, “Ever wonder what happens in the football locker room?”

In text placed over the video, another student said, "We gonna f*** the black outta these African American children from Uganda." According to reports, one of the players who was pinned to the ground went straight home after the incident instead of staying for football practice.

Parents were outraged by the video that shows graphic footage of the students committing disgusting, disrespectful and inappropriate acts to black children; some groups are calling for a federal investigation.

One mother – who asked to remain unidentified for the sake of her child – told KSLA, “I felt bad for my child who had to experience this. "You see kids in the locker room forcing kids over the bench. You see kids on the ground thrusting on other kids making racial slurs as they're thrusting …You see the kids asking to get up and to stop and screaming."

The mother explained to KSLA that her son and the other black student involved were not willingly participating and weren't able to defend themselves.

"They were not OK with it," she said. "He had people that were straddling over on top of him,” she said. “Racism should not be tolerated … You should be able to send your kids to school and feel they are being protected and safe.”

The school system is investigating and taking action. Short Pump Middle School released the following statement regarding the incident:

“We are aware of the video, the contents of which are offensive and wrong. The school division will take appropriate action in accordance with our normal procedures. Beyond that, federal law prohibits school divisions from sharing additional information about students,” said Henrico Schools Spokesman Andy Jenks.

Henrico Supervisor Tyson Nelson said if he were the parents of one of the students, he would be angry. He added that they need to consider that these students were possibly held against their will for racially-motivated acts.

“Was this some kind of racial situation?” said Nelson. “If it's young kids being held against their will and being sexually manipulated, then that's one thing.”

His confusion is lost on us, because their language and treatment of their black teammates are evidence enough of racism, disrespect and hatred.
