Elizabeth Warren will be dropping out of the 2020 presidential race according to a senior campaign aide, NPR reports.
Warren's upcoming suspension of her campaign will be formally announced on Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The suspension comes after strikingly low Super Tuesday results in comparison to fellow Democratic presidential contenders, with Warren even losing in her native Massachusetts. As of Thursday morning, Warren only attained 65 delegates whereas Bernie Sanders received 531 votes and Joe Biden received 596.
Warren ran on a platform of combatting climate change, ending corruption in Washington, D.C. and ensuring racial equality.
While her dropping out was anticipated given the results of the primaries, for many, it's still disappointing.
Once again, the most prepared and qualified person (who happens to be a woman) is out.
Kudos to Sen. Elizabeth Warren to running a thoughtful, inclusive, and forward thinking campaign. We are all better because you (and Joaquin Castro) were in the race. https://t.co/jFb9xrzxwH

I will say this: I have never seen a presidential candidate center LGBTQ folks and their experiences so much in their campaign like Sen. Elizabeth Warren did.
The impact that will have on generations to come is immeasurable.

Don't believe it when they say they "just want the best and most qualified person for the job." We can't have anything. Just hope and "I have a daughter" platitudes.
Frankly, #WeBeenKnew. https://t.co/nIIXffCpMv

If a man running for president had Elizabeth Warren’s experience, detail, intelligence & charisma he’d be running away with the Democratic nomination right now

Just saw the news about Elizabeth Warren dropping out and I broke into tears. It is heartbreaking that an incredibly smart, qualified, woman can't be fully embraced by our country, yet. She was my candidate. THANK YOU ELIZABETH, f
Very proud of the work I was able to do for the Warren campaign surrounding its disability plan.
I am eager to see what's on the horizon & how to support.
Thank you, @ewarren for being in this race & energizing me in a way that I needed to be in this cycle. #LFG

It's unclear if Warren will be endorsing another Democratic candidate.
