Elizabeth Warren will be dropping out of the 2020 presidential race according to a senior campaign aide, NPR reports.
Warren's upcoming suspension of her campaign will be formally announced on Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The suspension comes after strikingly low Super Tuesday results in comparison to fellow Democratic presidential contenders, with Warren even losing in her native Massachusetts. As of Thursday morning, Warren only attained 65 delegates whereas Bernie Sanders received 531 votes and Joe Biden received 596.
Warren ran on a platform of combatting climate change, ending corruption in Washington, D.C. and ensuring racial equality.
While her dropping out was anticipated given the results of the primaries, for many, it's still disappointing.
Once again, the most prepared and qualified person (who happens to be a woman) is out.
