White supremacist Dylann Roof has been sentenced to death by a federal jury in Charleston, South Carolina. The jury reached the decision after 3 hours of deliberation. 

Roof represented himself during the sentencing phase of his trial and did not object to the death penalty. 

In December, the same jury found him guilty on all 33 counts. 24 of the 33 crimes qualified as federal hate crimes.

On June 17, 2015, Roof killed worshipers Rev. Clementa Pickney, Susie Jackson, Myra Thompson, Rev. Daniel Timmons Sr., Ethel Lance, Rev. DePayne Middleton-Doctor, Cynthia Hurd, Rev. Sharonda Singleton and Tywanza Sanders. 

Roof has repeatedly shown no remorse for his hate crimes.
