nullA year and a half after Whitney Houston’s death, we’ve been treated to several TV specials, including a 1-hour tribute on the OWN network titled Remembering Whitney, as well as a reality TV show, The Houstons: On Our Own, which followed the lives of the late singer’s family. There was also at least 1 documentary, aired by Centric – a previously never-before seen documentary, titled Whitney Houston: Legend, which was filled with new footage and interviews.

There have also been plans for a tell-all book, penned by the late singer’s mother, Cissy Houston, who met with publishers in New York City last year to discuss her plans for a book on her daughter’s life, which she said would be “… the bad… and the good,” describing it further as “the real and definitive story of her daughter… There are so many lies out there and I want to dispel all of those lies.
No word on where exactly that stands today.
Now add this to the long list of projects on the life of Whitney Houston, the 3rd one that her family is behind (the other 2 being the reality TV show and the book).
Showbiz411 is reporting that the Whitney Houston estate is developing a feature documentary on her life, with Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law, executive producing.
The film will reportedly give audiences a look at rare, unseen home footage of Whitney, and will likely be more of a work of hagiography, than anything objective.
No further details are available at the moment.
There were rumors of a biopic on Whitney’s life, with names like Rihanna, Meagan Good and Vivica Fox mentioned over the years (even while Whitney was still alive) as potential actresses to star. However Clive Davis has said that he wasn’t aware of any Whitney biopics, and wasn’t involved in any.
