Legendary comedienne and The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg gave rising congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a tidbit of advice following her first major interview.

Ocasio-Cortez has become one of the most prominent figures to come out of the midterm blue wave. The electric 29-year-old has only been in the House for five days, but her bold proposals have made her a champion of the left and enemy of the right.

On Sunday's 60 Minutes, she called out seasoned Democrats for not doing enough to maintain power and keep a unified party identity.

“We as a party have compromised too much,” Ocasio-Cortez told Anderson Cooper. “And we’ve lost too much of who we’re supposed to be and who we are.”

“It requires risk to try something new, but also we know so much of what we’ve tried in the past hasn’t worked either,” the Bronx native continued.

She claimed the party needs newer, fresher ideas to compete and win against Republicans without pointing fingers at the establishment. Among other topics, Ocasio-Cortez discussed taxes on the wealthy and a new Green Deal that would galvanize young people and reclaim that identity.

The anti-establishment firebrand made a name for herself during the 2018 New York 14th District primaries for taking down seasoned career politicians.

But Goldberg had an issue with Ocasio's insinuation on the primetime show.

“It is very, very difficult when people make accusations where you say, you know, the Democrats have done nothing, the establishment of the Democrats have done nothing,” the host said. “And I just want to throw this out to you: [Rep.] John Lewis wasn’t sitting still. [Sen.] Dianne Feinstein wasn’t sitting still.”

For Whoopi, Ocasio-Cortez needs to hold elder political leaders in higher regard.

“Before you start pooping on people and what they’ve done, you got to do something, too,” Goldberg said.

"This should be a time to learn and do something, she added. "I encourage you to sit still for a minute and learn the job.”
