Wisconsin Representative Sean Duffy is on the receiving end of criticism from Black lawmakers following questionable comments he made concerning abortion on January 7th.
Rep. Duffy observed, “My liberal friends, Congressional Black Caucus members, talk about fighting for the defenseless, the hopeless, and the downtrodden,” and continued, “There is no one more hopeless and voiceless than an unborn baby, but their silence is deafening. I can’t hear them. Where are they standing up for their communities, advocating and fighting for their right to life?”
On January 12, Duffy reaffirmed his position noting that abortion rates were substantially higher in Black communities and that he would not be deterred by criticism. The Congressional Black Caucus is weighing there options for potential condemnation of the Wisconsin congressman.
Wisconsin Representative Gwen Moore told POLITICO, “How dare this man stand out and lecture us and to call us out. He said CBC members. That was personal.”
What do you think? Is Rep. Duffy out of line?
