The WNBA has suspended Connecticut Sun coach Curt Miller and fined him $10,000 for making a degrading comment about Las Vegas Aces player Liz Cambage. Miller, who was upset with an official's call during the Sun's match against the Aces on Sunday, told a referee that Cambage weighs 300 pounds, NBC News reported.
The Aces player later went to social media to deliver a stern statement against the coach.
“I will never let a man disrespect me, especially a little white one,” she said in an Instagram post. "To the coach of Connecticut — I’m sorry, little sir man, I do not know your name. But the next time you try to call out a referee trying to get a call being like, ‘come on, she’s 300 pounds,’ I’m going to need you to get it right baby."
Cambage then touted the real facts about her athletic figure, saying she stands at 6'8" tall and weighs 235 pounds.
"I’m very proud of being a big b***h, big body, big Benz, baby," the basketball star said. "So don’t ever try to disrespect me or another woman in the league.”

The coach issued an apology on Monday.
“I made an inappropriate and offensive comment in reference to Liz Cambage’s height and weight,” he wrote. “I regret what I said in the heat of the moment and want to sincerely apologize to Liz and the entire Aces organization. I understand the gravity of my words and have learned from this.”
Miller added that he has spoken with Cambage’s agent and the Aces’ general manager.
“As a leader, words matter. It was inappropriate,” the veteran coach said. “In a league where we empower women, and I’ve spent 31 years empowering women, (those words were) just not acceptable.”
Sun's president Jennifer Rizzotti also issued a statement on Monday, ESPN reported.
"In no way do we condone any behavior or speech that is disparaging towards another person," she said. "Curt has apologized for his mistake and understands the gravity of his words."
Cambage's bio states that she has had a stellar career overseas, winning the WNBL Championship in Australia last season while leading the league in scoring and blocked shots. She was also recognized as Player of the Year while playing in China in 2016.
